Working
in partnership with Universal Arches, JoTiKa Software has written a
unique DXF importing tool to work alongside their highly efficient shape
handling software that has recently been developed between the two
companies.
Universal
can now export a DXF file that contains all the glass templates, which
can be distributed with a viewer file directly to the customer. Once
approved, these templates can be used to develop a complete glass order.
The Gtrak order processing software was adapted to handle multiple
shapes in a single DXF file and identify them individually; this enables
staff to apply exact glass specifications to each shape, where
necessary.
This
is then sent electronically (via EDI) to Universal’s glass partner,
Pilkington AG. Pilkington AG, also users of Gtrak Software, import the
glass order directly into their order processing system ready for
manufacture and delivery within 5-7 days.
Prior
to the software investment, it could take several days for any
specialist bending/shape manufacturer to provide glass templates which
had to be hand drawn and therefore at risk of error. This new process
has improved accuracy and response times to meet the needs of the modern
installation company. Frames and glass can now be delivered on the same
day.
JoTiKa’s
solution has enabled Universal to order glass for their frames without
re-keying or intervening in the automated process; it’s a very big
move to a paperless working environment. The EDI link will also help
reinforce the close working relationship between Universal Arches and
Pilkington AG thanks to this investment in technology.
